Instructions

  • Prepare the materials of the game: each group needs to have pairs of cards, containing each the different titles of the 8 criteria of the ‘good question’ (so, 8 + 8 cards for each group). To understand which title to write, see ‘Materials’
  • Every group has to shuffle the cards and place them upside down on a surface. The game aims to form pairs of cards containing the same title. There is no specific rule for deciding who starts the game: in rotation, each player uncovers two cards. Remembering the placement of individual cards is the key to finding pairs.
  • The participant who finds a pair should try to define or explain the criteria and can also count on the support of the group in case they are struggling with formulating the definition. Another participant of the group writes the collectively found definition on a flip chart (10 min)
  • Once the game is over and all 8 criteria have been defined, come back in the plenary session. Each group presents the definitions of the criteria they have found (10–15 min)
  • The facilitator analyses the definitions, compares them with those defined in this portal (See ‘Materials’) and, if necessary, clarifies or corrects them, making sure to give room to participants’ questions and comments. (15 min)
N.B. Depending on the group you are working with, there may be a need to make the activity more competitive. In this case, points can be awarded to the player(s) who can best explain the definitions of the questions.

POSSIBILE VARIATION

If the group is not that big, it is possible to do the activity in a plenary session. In this case, the facilitator will write the collectively found definition on the flip chart. There is no more need to present since everyone has contributed to creating them
