Instructions

  • Ask every participant to reflect on the action already planned for the future or the ones the community would like to plan. Ask everyone to note these actions on an A4 paper (10 min).
  • Divide the participants into groups and ask each member of the group to share what they wrote on their personal A4 paper. They should then discuss it with the group to reach a common consensus about the past, ongoing, and future actions (20 min);
  • Ask each group to try to define on a poster the minimum characteristics and skills needed for a monitoring community that wants to carry on those actions (20 min);
  • In turn, each group briefly presents its poster to the other participants, making room for their suggestions or criticism, and updating the poster as necessary (20 min);
  • Write each role identified on a different A4 paper and place them in different spots of the room and invite the participants to move around and read them carefully, stopping close to the poster with the role requiring the skills they think they have (10 min).
N.B. If the groups turn out to be unbalanced, invite participants to reflect on whether their skills can be useful for other roles and invite them to reposition themselves.

DIGITAL TOOLS

Digital tools you can consider:

  • If you are working online use a video conferencing tool like Zoom, or any other platform that supports online meetings, but also breakout rooms.

  • During the meeting use an online collaborative whiteboard platform like Miro or Jamboard (where each participant can have a dedicated space/page for the individual answers with sticky notes).
  • The same online collaborative whiteboard platforms, Jamboard and/or Mirocan be used for stage 3, allowing each group to identify the minimum characteristics and skills needed for a monitoring community in a poster, presenting the poster to the others.
