Instructions

  • Give the participants – divided into pairs or small groups – some brief articles with examples of anonymised cases of corruption (See ‘Materials’). They have to analyse them and guess establish in which country the cases took place (20 min)
  • Through a collective discussion, every group has to put a post-it with the name of the article on the European map, in the country in which they think the case took place
N.B. This activity wants to challenge geographical and cultural stereotypes, and collects examples of public corruption cases that really happened. However, take into consideration that the corruption cases might trigger a sentiment of distrust towards institutions and politicians. Depending on the background and attitude of your group, please consider using this activity or not.

POSSIBILE VARIATION

It is possible to play the perception game in plenary if the participants are not more than 8 to 10 people. In this case, it would be interesting for each participant to analyse an article per person and then to discuss where every case has happened together
