Instructions

  • Propose the following questionnaire to participants, who can answer the questions on a scale from 1 (no trust at all) to 5 (total trust), with 2 (little), 3 (enough), 4 (a lot). Please support them with information about institutions or organisations they may not be familiar with. You can change the proposed list according to the context. Ask participants to answer the questionnaire (See ‘Materials’) anonymously (10 min)
  • Now create the group’s barometer, based on the answers, by simply summing up the points for each institution or organisation. The participants will point out the points and draw the barometer on a paperboard (15-20 min)
  • Collectively discuss the results and the ‘roots’ of their trust levels: why do they trust or distrust one institution rather than another? (25-30 min)

DIGITAL TOOLS

You can use a combination of digital tools to facilitate different aspects of the activity. like Mentimeter, Kahoot, Zoom.

Mentimeter is designed specifically for interactive presentations and live polls. It’s a suitable choice for creating and displaying the barometer based on participants’ responses. To use Mentimeter for your activity:

  1. Create a Mentimeter presentation, and use the “Multiple Choice” or “Scale” question types for your questionnaire items.
  2. Share the Mentimeter presentation link with participants.
  3. Participants can answer the questions using their smartphones or computers in real-time. Mentimeter will display the results graphically, making it easy to create the barometer.

During the discussion phase, you can use Mentimeter’s features to gather participants’ insights and comments in real-time. You can also use a video conferencing tool alongside Mentimeter, like Zoom if the session is conducted online.

Before the activity, make sure participants are familiar with the tools you plan to use and provide clear instructions on how to access and use them. Test the tools and your workflow in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient online session.
